Enrollment & Eligibility

The Open Enrollment period for eligible GVEC employees runs throughout the month of October. All changes will be effective January 1 of the upcoming calendar year.

✔ Employees may make changes or add dependents during the Open Enrollment period.
✔ Outside of Open Enrollment, changes can only be made due to a qualifying event (see details below).

Making Enrollment Changes During the Year

Once you make your selections, they will remain in effect for the full year (January 1st – December 31st). Changes can only be made if you experience a qualifying event, including:

  • Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
  • Birth, adoption, disability, or loss of a dependent
  • Reaching the dependent child age limit
  • Significant changes in employment or benefit coverage
  • Termination of Medicaid or CHIP coverage
  • Eligibility for assistance under Medicaid or CHIP

IRS regulations require that any enrollment changes due to a qualifying event must be submitted to the benefits department within 31 days of the event. Contact Human Resources for more information.
